Surgical treatment of gynecomastia. Plastic surgery
Gynecomastia - is an exclusively male problem that manifests itself in an increase in breast volume caused by hormonal disorders. There are two types of gynecomastia: physiological, which occurs at a certain age and usually goes away without treatment, and pathological, which requires surgical intervention.
Only in our clinic ”Doctor Droga“ thanks to the availability of modern equipment and with the help of a unique technique you have the opportunity to get rid of such a problem as an enlarged mammary gland in men.
The entire procedure is performed under anesthesia through a small puncture, through which the breast is destroyed and removed. Only one stitch is applied and removed in a week.
Types of gynecomastia
They are distinguished by the type of tissue:
- true gynecomastia - an overgrowth of glandular tissues in the mammary gland;
- false gynecomastia or lipomastia - an increase in the volume of adipose tissue in the mammary gland.
They are distinguished by the degree of development:
- unilateral gynecomastia - the problem is diagnosed only on one breast. In this case, patients seek help at an earlier stage;
- bilateral gynecomastia - the problem is diagnosed on both mammary glands. The number of such cases is statistically higher than with unilateral. This type of disease is characterized by later visits to doctors for help.
The main causes of gynecomastia:
- imbalance of testosterone and estrogen in favor of the latter. The cause of this imbalance, in turn, is tumors of the pituitary gland, pancreas, adrenal glands, stomach, lungs, and several other diseases;
- an increase in the production of prolactin (a female hormone that ensures lactation and breast milk production) caused by neoplasms on the pituitary gland, as well as hypothyroidism;
- a general metabolic disorder that occurs in systemic diseases, ranging from tuberculosis to diabetes mellitus;
- obesity, which is both a consequence of metabolic disorders and caused by beer alcoholism (beer contains a significant amount of phytoestrogens, “female” hormones) and a sedentary lifestyle;
In addition, traumatic lesions of the chest, taking certain medications (hormones), intoxication (including alcohol or drugs), and human immunodeficiency virus can be the causes.
Symptoms
Our leading plastic surgeon, Oleksiy Ivanovych, recommends paying attention to your health as early as possible. The first symptoms are:
- increase in the size of the nipples;
- enhancement of pigmentation of the areola.
At the next stage of the disease development, the mammary glands or one of them begins to grow, reaching significant sizes.
There may also be a colorless or whitish discharge from the nipples.
Patients with diseases of the nervous system often develop secondary gynecomastia. It is also caused by hormonal imbalance.
